Abstract

Ayurveda is a science to achieve healthy life. It not only emphasizes on elimination of diseases but also on maintenance of good health. Among the Brihatrayees, Charak Samhita is the principle grantha. Swastha chatushka mainly deals with preventive aspect of diseases. In Navegandharaniya chapter the natural urges which should not be suppressed or provoked in order to maintain the healthy condition of the body are explained. Due to changing lifestyle or some unavoidable circumstances the natural urges are suppressed unintentionally. If the natural urges are repeatedly suppressed it leads to number of disease conditions. Hence, this concept has been chosen to highlight the effects of vegadharan in this review article.
