It is use medicinally for a wide multiplicity of ailments, and its aroma makes <em>calamus</em> essential oil esteemed in the perfume industry. <em>Acorus calamus</em> rhizome constituents, particularly α and β <em>asarone</em>, possess a wide range of pharmacological activities such as sedative, CNS depressant, behavior modifying, anticonvulsant, acetyl cholinesterase inhibitory &amp; memory enhancing.</p> ER -
