EFFECT OF SARIVADYA TAILA EXTERNAL APPLICATION AS SHIROABHYANGA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DARUNAKA WITH SPECIAL REFERANCE TO DANDRUFF (PITYRIASIS CAPITIS)–A CASE STUDY.

Abstract
introduction -According to acharya Vagbhata and Sharangadhara Darunaka is kapalgata roga but acharya Sushruta and other Acharya explained Darunaka disease under kshudra roga. Due to vitiation of vata and kapha dosha in Darunaka vyadhi symptoms like kandu (itching), rukshata (dryness), twaka sphutana (scaling), keshachyuti (hairfall) develop. Gadanigrahakara has mentioned application of Sarivady taila in the management of darunaka. aim and objective – to evaluate the efficacy of sarivadya taila in the management of darunaka. material and methods – A 20 years female patient came to opd of kayachikitsa department of laxmanrao kalaspurakar ayurveda rugnalaya yavatmal with chief complaints of kandu 2–3 times per hour, keshachyuti 80–100 hair fall during washing and combing of hair, rukshata , twaka sphutanaseen over hair and sometime over shoulder since 6 months. in this case ayurvedic application of sarivadya taila locally once at night was given. result-the improvement provided by the therapy was assessed on the basis of sign and symptoms. The kandu , keshachyuti, rukshata, decreased by 100%, twaka sphutana decreased by 75%. conclusion–Sarivadya taila found safe and effective in controlling sign and symptoms of darunaka. keyword–Sarivadya taila, Darunaka, pityriasis capitis, dandruff.
