Randomized control clinical study to evaluate the efficacy of shwaskasaghni vati in the management of vataj kasa in an age group 20 to 70 years.

Breath in and breath out is a continuous process in every living thing since birth. Hence Respiratory System is a continuously working system in the human body. Breathing in polluted air with a high Air Quality Index causes great damage to our respiratory system day by day. Other Causes like smoking, frequent taking fast food, more sitting work, busy lifestyle with a disturbed daily routine can also affect the respiratory system and therefore leads to Vataj kasa . It is one of the top 10 reasons for visiting the family physician. Shwaskasghni Vati contains – Shunthi, Marich, Pippali, Haridra, Dadim Patra, Shuddha Bachanag, Chitrak, Bramhi, Vidanga and Nirgundi. These Drugs have good efficacy towards Kasa Vyadhi. Aim and Objective: To study the effect of Shwaskasghni Vati with compare to Lavangadi Vati in the management of Vataj kasa in an age group of 20-70 years. Method- 60 clinically diagnosed patients of Vataj kasa selected from OPD unit of the PG department of Kayachikitsa, L.K. Ayurvedic Rugnalaya, Yavatmal Material- Shwaskasghni Vati and Lavangadi Vati. Result and Conclusion: In the present study, according to collected data, Statistically, it is observed that both drug i.e. Shwaskasghni Vati and Lavangadi Vati shows significant relief in all the symptoms of Vataj kasa. According to percentile relief, the effect of Lavangadi Vati (Group B) is more significant than Shwaskasaghni Vati (Group A) for subjective criteria –Shushka Kasa (Dry cough), Shirah Shool (Headache), Uraha shoola (Chest pain), Parshwa shoola (Pain at lateral side of chest) and Daurbalya (weakness).
