Abstract

Ayurveda emphasizes on consuming healthy and nutritious diet. In Ayurvedic classics Ahara, Nidra and Brahmacharya are mentioned as trayopstambas of body. Intake of healthy and balanced diet is important for proper physiological health. but intake of harmful an unwholesome (Ahita) food causes pathological effects on body. Concept of Viruddhahara is mentioned in Ayurvedic classics and consumption of Viruddhahara gives rise to various disturbances of mild to violent nature and disease of acute to chronic nature. As per Acharyas of Ayurveda Viruddhaahara plays important role in etiopathogenesis of Amlapitta Vyadhi and regular intake of Viruddhahara causes sings and symptoms of Amlapitta such as Avipaka, Klama, Utklesha, tikta Amlodgar, Gaurava, hritkanthadaha, Aruchi. the present study was conducted To establish the relationship between consumption of Viruddhahara and sings and symptoms of Amlapitta caused by it.
