Efficacy of direct application of Vran shodhan & Ropan Tail in abdominal surgeries – A comparative study.

Abstract

Use of single dose of antibiotics  to prevent infection at surgical site: NCDC. Its time to adopt old but good practices. In routinely practices, we observed that continuous infections in post surgical wounds. Even though there are availability of newer broad spectrum, fifth generation antibiotics being used with good antiseptics solutions, there after incidences of infection of surgical wounds are happened. Now it is a time to shift the gear and search for the new. Ayurveda is the best option for that. This study shows direct application of Vran shodhan and ropan tail during suturing of anterior abdominal wall in abdominal surgery have very great significance. Not only avoids anterior abdominal wall infections (suturing site) but also heals properly without ugliness. This study also proved old is gold and cost effective rather than other local antiseptics drugs. Post operative recovery rate is also good. We are using such technique since last 20 years in our patients. We found tremendous results. Really we should search such  things  in our  Veda  to  give  a  new  direction  to the world. We can again become a ‘ Vishva-Guru’ through the knowledge of Ayurveda. We have done comparative study with Providone Iodine Solution  IP 5 % w/v (Cipla Ltd.) (same batch) and Vran shodhan and ropan tail direct application on the anterior abdominal wall during suturing. In this study, we selected only clean & neat cases. To set a standard protocol, more study to be needed.
